Sikafloor®-4 Texture

CERAMIC BEAD TEXTURING AND GLOSS REDUCTION ADDITIVE

Sikafloor®-4 Texture is a finely graded, spherical shaped ceramic bead texturing agent that is easily dispersed during the mixing process into Sikafloor®-315 N and Sikafloor®Duochem 942 polyurethane top coats. The addition of ceramic beads produces an easy to clean, fine surface texture with improved scratch resistance.

  • Low specific gravity reduces bottom settling making it easy to mix and apply
  • No effect on pot life or cure rate

  • Insoluble at room temperature to common solvents and thinners

Usage

  • To increase dynamic coefficient of friction (DCOF) to provide a greater degree of traction
  • To improve surface scratch and mar resistance
  • To reduce the reflective gloss level
  • To replace quartz texturing aggregates; ceramic beads have higher abrasion resistance than common quartz aggregates

Storage Conditions

Take care to measure and add a consistent amount of Sikafloor®-4 Texture powder to each mix to ensure a consistent texture is achieved across the entire application surface.
Application steps

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

MIXING

Do not hand mix Sikafloor® materials / Mechanical mix only.

Mix the selected Sikafloor® polyurethane resin components A + B following individual mixing instructions published on the Product Data Sheet or label. Add Sikafloor®-4 Texture (aggregate) pouring slowly over a period of 15 seconds to avoid lumps in the final mixture.

Mechanically blend for two (2) more minutes, during the operations, scrape down the sides and bottom of the container with a flat or straight edge trowel at least once to ensure complete mixing.

Do not allow mixed materials to stand and settle. Failure to keep product agitated during application will result in a variation in gloss levels, appearance and performance.

APPLICATION

Sikafloor®-4 Texture ceramic bead modified Sikafloor® polyurethane coatings may be applied using a high quality, short nap roller (lint-free), a natural bristled brush, non-marking squeegee or flexible steel trowel followed by backrolling.

Always follow the application instructions for the individual Sikafloor® polyurethane resin product as the primary source of application information. To achieve a fine texture, Sikafloor®-4 Texture ceramic bead modified polyurethane products must be applied in a uniform, thin film to achieve a dry film thickness (d.f.t.) of 2- 3 mil. Avoiding ponding or puddling as thick areas will appear as isolated patches of smooth texture.
 

Note: Sika Canada strongly recommends a test area be applied prior to general application to confirm top coat selection, application rates and procedures required to produce the desired textured finish.
