SAKRETE Self Leveling Underlayment
SAKRETE Self Leveling Underlayment is a cement-based, pre-blended, self-leveling underlayment material. It is designed to help level surfaces such as interior concrete, plywood or other approved floor surfaces, prior to the installation of resilient flooring. This product is designed for applications varying from 3 mm (1/8”) up to 25 mm (1”) in a single pour. Cured SAKRETE Self Leveling Underlayment can be opened to foot traffic in approximately 6 hours.
- Very flowable; easy to apply
- Ready-to-use; just add water
- Seeks its own level condition and flattens interior floors
- Ready for ceramic tile or stone in 24 hours
- Ready for other types of flooring in 2 to 3 days
- Can be used in conjunction with radiant floor heating systems
Usage
- For leveling residential and commercial, interior floors, prior to the installation of resilient flooring
- For the following, suitable substrates: concrete that is sound, has cured for a minimum of 28 days and is free from hydrostatic pressure; exterior-grade plywood; ceramic tile
- For the following, suitable floor coverings: ceramic tile and natural stone; engineered or natural hard wood; carpet; vinyl; laminate

FAQ
Do not install SAKRETE Self Levelling Underlayment over particle board, chipboard, hard wood, Lauan, Oriented Strand Board (OSB), metal, vinyl, fibreglass, or plastic.
Substrate and ambient room temperatures must be between +10 °C (50 °F) and +30 °C (86 °F) during application and for at least 2 days after installation.
Do not use for surfaces that require a slope for drainage.
Do not use product as a wearing surface. Resilient flooring must be installed over the underlayment.
Use in dry, interior areas only. Do not use when hydrostatic pressure is present.
22.7 KG (50 lb) bag yields approximately 0.013 m³ (0.46 ft³).

Allow newly placed material to set until surface is hard to the touch. Under most conditions, SAKRETE Self Levelling Underlayment requires no special curing. Substrate and ambient room temperatures must be between +10 °C (50 °F) and +30 °C (86 °F) during application and for at least 2 days after installation.
Prior to pouring, be sure to close all doors and windows, and turn off HVAC systems, until the underlayment has cured. Divide the area into sections to permit a continuous pour without cold joints. Pour material in a continuous strip about 300 mm (1 ft) in width, across the narrow section of the floor. Pour the next bag adjacent to the first pour. Continue successive pours in this manner until the floor is covered. Spread the material using a gauge-rake, over the entire surface, to ensure that the proper thickness is achieved.
Add 4.5 L (1.18 US gal) to 4.7 L (1.24 US gal) of cool, potable water into a clean mixing container. Slowly empty the 22.7 KG (50 lb) bag of SAKRETE Self Levelling Underlayment into the mixing container while mixing with a heavy-duty, 13 mm (1/2 in) electric drill and an “eggbeater” mixing paddle. After all the powder has been added, thoroughly mix the material for 2 minutes.

Ceramic tiles should be solid and structurally sound. Thoroughly clean floor to ensure it is free of all dirt, oil, grease, paints, sealers, debris, or any other substance that may interfere with bonding. Prime the floor with SAKRETE Concrete Adhesive using a roller and apply SAKRETE Self Levelling Underlayment while the primer is still tacky.
Exterior-grade plywood should be solid, structurally sound and meet all industry guidelines. A metal lath, meeting the requirements of ASTM C 847, must be installed over the primed plywood prior to the installation of the underlayment.
Concrete surface should be solid, structurally sound, and rough, to help ensure proper bonding of the underlayment. Some concrete surfaces may require mechanical profiling by shot blasting or scarifying. See International Concrete Repair Institute (ICRI) Concrete Surface Profile (CSP) #3 for an acceptable level of roughness. Fill deep holes with SAKRETE fast-patch and allow to cure for 3 hours before applying SAKRETE Self Levelling Underlayment.
