Interior stained and polished concrete has gained in popularity over the course of the years. Using grinding and densifying techniques, the concrete itself is finished as a decorative wear surface.

In most cases, almost all structurally sound concrete floors may be polished; however, when it comes to floors with major defects or extensively repaired, polishing will not suffice to hide the poor quality of the substrate. In this case, a resurfacing solution using a decorative concrete topping will be the best option; it will provide a smooth and levelled surface, correcting all the defects and preparing the floor for a decorative treatment.

Advantages of polished concrete

  • Superior strength and durability
  • Sustainable (no hazardous coatings/cleaners or adhesives, Low VOC content)
  • Aesthetics (accepts dyes and coloring)
  • Cost competitive material (using the slab on grade or the overlay, as the finished floor surface)
  • Very low maintenance

SCOFIELD® Formula One Lithium Densifier MP

SCOFIELD® Formula One™ Lithium Densifier MP is a VOC-free, cost-effective treatment that will extend the nominal service life of concrete floors and reduce ongoing floor maintenance costs. It is a penetrating, chemically reactive, semitransparent liquid applied to new or existing, interior architectural and industrial concrete surfaces to increase surface density, reduce dusting and improve overall surface durability. It is also commonly used during polishing operations to prepare and enhance cementitious surfaces for high gloss diamond polishing. SCOFIELD® Formula One™ Lithium Densifier MP is specifically formulated for use with SCOFIELD® Formula One™ Liquid Dye Concentrate and SCOFIELD Formula One Guard W as part of a three step process to add colour to the plain interior concrete floors.

SCOFIELD® Formula One Guard-W

SCOFIELD® Formula One™ Guard-W is a low VOC, cost-effective interior concrete finish containing lithium silicate. It will improve the gloss level and surface durability of ground and polished concrete when applied and polished with a highspeed burnisher. SCOFIELD® Formula One™ Guard-W is normally used after densifier treatment with SCOFIELD® Formula One™ Lithium Densifier MP followed by grinding to the desired grit or finish. The two products correctly used together will provide a surface that is resistant to water penetration, easy to maintain, environmentally sound, with an increased
gloss level and clarity. SCOFIELD® Formula One™ Guard-W is specifically formulated for use with SCOFIELD® Formula One™ Liquid Dye Concentrate and SCOFIELD® Formula One™ Lithium Densifier MP as part of a three step process to add colour to the plain interior concrete floors.

SCOFIELD® Formula One Liquid Dye Concentrate

SCOFIELD® Formula One™ Liquid Dye Concentrate is an acetone soluble dye, formulated to colour interior concrete surfaces prior to being densified, sealed, or ground and polished. Designed for easy job-site dilution; diluted material will penetrate into the pores of properly prepared new or old concrete. It can be applied lightly to gently tone surfaces, or applied heavily to develop deep rich colour.
