Sika® Stabilizer-211 MBF

SUPER-PLASTICIZING AND WATER REDUCING ADMIXTURE FOR MINE BACKFILL 

Sika® Stabilizer-211 MBF is used by the mining industry as a normal setting, high-range water reducing, super-plasticizing admixture for hydraulic and paste backfill applications.

Usage

• For hydraulic and paste backfill operations
• Used as a super-plasticizer, Sika® Stabilizer-211 MBF may be added with the normal amount of water to produce flowing hydraulic or paste backfill mixes
• When used as a water reducer, Sika® Stabilizer-211 MBF will reduce water requirements, increasing the compressive strength at all ages
• Alternatively, it can be used to achieve a combination of these characteristics

This product must be stored in original, unopened and undamaged packaging in dry conditions at temperatures between 10 and 27 ºC (50 and 80 ºF).

Recommended Dosage

The dosage to be used should be estimated by preliminary laboratory testing. The recommended dosage will usually be between 1 and 4% by weight of the total cementitious content. It is suggested than an automated liquid admixture dispensing system adapted to the paste backfill mixing method be used. Start plant trials with a lower dosage than that estimated in the laboratory. If the performance and the system results are satisfactory, continue with this dosage. If performance is unsatisfactory, gradually increase the dosage while continuously monitoring the system until the desired performance is achieved. Do not use a higher dosage than the recommended without preliminary testing.

MIXING

Should be dispensed separately from the other admixtures, preferably after all of the materials have been charged into the mixer.
