Sika® Stabilizer-512 MBF

RETARDING AND WATER-REDUCING ADMIXTURE FOR MINE BACKFILL

Sika® Stabilizer-512 MBF is a set-retarder used by the mining industry to extend the workability time, while at the same time fluidizing the cemented paste fills. This improves plastic properties, facilitating mining backfill operations

  • Delay the initial setting time (retardation time determined by dosage).
  • Reduce the risk of blockages in the paste lines
  • Reduce water and increase solid content of the cemented paste fill
  • Improve the workability of the paste filling, allowing long transport times
  • Improve rheological properties during the continuous mixing, pumping, and filling process

Usage

Sika® Stabilizer-512 MBF can be used in mining to : 
  • Extend the workability, pumpability and placing time
  • Prevent premature stiffening of cemented paste fill
  • Reduce water and increase solid content

Shelf Life

1 year when stored in dry warehouse conditions, at temperatures between +5 and 27°C (40 - 80°F). 

Storage Conditions

Store protected from direct sunlight and at temperatures above +5°C (40°F). If frozen, thaw and agitate thoroughly to return to normal state.

Recommended Dosage

The dosage to be used should be estimated by preliminary laboratory testing. The recommended dosage will usually be between 0.5 and 2% by weight of the total cementitious content. It is suggested than an automated liquid admixture dispensing system adapted to the paste backfill mixing method be used. Start plant trials with a lower dosage than that estimated in the laboratory. If the performance and the system results are satisfactory, continue with this dosage. If performance is unsatisfactory, gradually increase the dosage while continuously monitoring the system until the desired performance is achieved. Do not use a higher dosage than the recommended without preliminary testing.
