Sika® Stabilizer-6018 TBM

Set accelerating admixture for cement or bentonite stabilized and retarded injection grouts

Sika® Stabilizer-6018 TBM is a set and hardening accelerating admixture for cement / bentonite injection grouts, commonly used in backfilling operations during tunnel excavation with shielded TBMs. During excavation, the shield leaves an empty ring space between the concrete lining and the excavated ground. Injection and filling of this space is commonly done with a cement / bentonite grout that is stabilized and retarded.

  • Stops segregation and bleeding after injection.
  • Ensures a controlled hardening of the injected grout.
  • Allows hydration of cement.
  • Ensures good mechanical strengths. (comparable to ground strengths)

Usage

The Product is normally used in tunnel excavation with shielded tunnel boring machines (TBMs).   The Product is used for:
  • The re-activation of the setting properties of two component grouts
  • Acceleration of the grout setting time allowing the hardening of an injected mix even if it has been retarded for 24-72 hours

Application

Application Information

DISPENSING

Addition of Sika® Stabilizer-6018 TBM is done through a special injector that pushes the admixture into the grout lines at the end of the back of the TBM shield.

The Product must only be added to grout immediately before injection of the grout.

Conduct jobsite and laboratory trials to evaluate the setting time specific to the project.

 
Consumption

Recommended Dosage

Typical dosage range of Sika® Stabilizer-6018 TBM is 40-130 kg per cubic meter of grout. Pre-trials to confirm the actual required dosage for the materials and mix design in use must be done by the user.
