FAQ
700 g (1,54 lb) yields approximately 7 x 30 kg (66 lb) bags.
It is important to allow 28 days of curing once the concrete has been poured. After curing, clean the concrete with a pressure washer. Once it is dry and clean, apply a clear sealer to the surface.
Follow the packaged concrete curing instructions as directed by the manufacturer.
Caution: NEVER fog the surface of the coloured concrete with water while curing.
It is recommended, especially for air-entrained concrete (e.g., SAKRETE PSI 6000), to use a wood, magnesium, or aluminum float trowel for a smooth surface. For a textured surface, use a broom or brush. Use an edger tool to finish edges.
NOTE: Overworking will cause discolouration. NEVER wet the tools during use. The use of water will result in discolouration and may even damage the surface of the concrete.
- Place the concrete then strike it off using recognized methods.
- Once the concrete has been struck off, use a vibrating screed or magnesium float. Take care to work in one direction.
- Allow sufficient time for the concrete to set. Rushing can alter the final appearance of the finished concrete.
- Initial floating should be halted if there is any bleed water on the surface of the concrete (bleed water can result in scaling). Floating can be continued once the bleed water has evaporated.
- Add approximately one capful 100 g (0.22 lb) of colourant per 30 KG (66 lb) of mix. Vary quantity for a darker or lighter colour. Lighter tints can be obtained by reducing the amount of colourant; for darker tints add more colourant. Care must be taken to use the same specified proportion of colourant, cement-based mix, and water in each batch. Too much water can result in efflorescence or discolouration.
- Mix thoroughly to ensure that the pigment is dispersed throughout the mix.
- Mix the packaged concrete as directed by the manufacturer.
Thoroughly pre-blend the KING Colourant with the dry powder cement product before adding water.
