SikaCem® Concrete Expansion Joint is a closed-cell, non-crosslinked polyethylene foam expansion joint for concrete slabs. It serves as a joint filler in concrete construction to provide separation, allow controlled movement, and help prevent cracking or pressure against adjacent walls and slabs, offering a durable alternative to traditional asphalt and fiber expansion joints. Flexible and easy to handle, it can be cut to length on site and features a built-in tear-off strip for optional caulking after the concrete has cured.

Usage

SikaCem® Concrete Expansion Joint is used in concrete construction for sidewalks, driveways, patios, floor slabs, parking areas, and other standard concrete surfaces. It can also be installed between concrete and dissimilar materials, such as columns, manhole covers, or adjacent structures.

Application steps

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

Unroll and cut the SikaCem® Concrete Expansion Joint to the required length. Position it between the forms or against adjacent materials (e.g., existing concrete, masonry, or block) prior to placing concrete. Secure in place using suitable methods such as construction adhesive, nails, or staples, ensuring the top of the joint aligns with the top of the planned concrete pour.

  

The SikaCem® Concrete Expansion Joint includes a built-in tear-off strip. Position the strip upward if caulking is intended after the concrete has cured, or downward if no caulking is planned. Once the concrete has set, remove the tear-off strip as needed and apply a compatible caulking material to seal the joint if required.
