Sika FastFix®-440 Polymeric Asphalt

Water activated polymeric asphalt

High performance, extremely stable cold asphalt. It offers excellent workability at low temperatures, and also excellent adherence in wet conditions. Once activated with water, the polymers found in Sika FastFix®-440 Polymeric Asphalt provides a permanent repair. It’s a revolutionary high performing and flexible product aimed at the repair of asphalt and reactive concrete. Sika FastFix®-440 Polymeric Asphalt contains a viscosity modifier having no concentration of volatile organic compound (V.O.C.). Sika FastFix®-440 Polymeric Asphalt may be utilized in all weather conditions (cold, rain, snow) twelve months a year.

Usage

Made to be used on highways (asphalt or concrete), bike paths, bridge decks, manholes, potholes, parking lots, tennis courts, alligator cracking and driveways.

High density black granite along with a binder containing polymers and vegetable oil.

Shelf Life

12 months in original, unopened bag or pail.

Storage Conditions

Sika FastFix®-440 Polymeric Asphalt must be stored in a dry area with temperature above 16 °C (61 °F). Do not expose the product to rain, condensation or high humidity.

Application

Application Information

Product Temperature

For best results, condition product at 16 to 29 °C (61 to 84 °F) before using.

Curing Time

After the application of water, Sika FastFix®-440 Polymeric Asphalt begins to harden after 5 minutes and allows automobile traffic to begin immediately. Full cure takes 48 hours depending on the weather conditions (and can then be sealed).
Application steps

NOTES ON INSTALLATION

In cold weather applications, use warm water if available (as water could freeze before activating the polymers).

SUBSTRATE PREPARATION

Remove all loose material from the area to be repaired and put inside the pothole. Clean the surrounding surface to remove any dirt and/or other debris with a hard bristle broom.

It is best to rinse around the pothole with water to thoroughly clean the surface for a better adhesion.

 

APPLICATION

Pour the Sika FastFix®-440 Polymeric Asphalt into the pothole and level with a rake or a shovel leaving product 13 mm to 25 mm (½ in to 1 in) higher than the surrounding repair area. Saturate with water and compact with either a hand tamper or a plate compactor.

CLEAN UP

Tools may be cleaned using light oils, mineral oils or vegetable oil.
