Sika® Rugasol® S

HORIZONTAL SURFACE CONCRETE RETARDANT

Green liquid, water-soluble, non-flammable, surface retardant for exposed-aggregate concrete. Sika® Rugasol® S is water thin.

  • Chemically delays surface mortar setting to allow time for easy removal of retarded mortar
  • 3 mm (1/8 in) uniform penetration over surface of entire placement
  • Aggregate is exposed without being undercut and loosened
  • Provides high shear resistance and is less costly than chipping, scarifying, hammering, sandblasting or green-cutting
  • Surface mortar setting is not “killed”, but merely retarded

Usage

  • Exposes concrete aggregate to provide clean, rough, bonding surfaces on dams, and heavy construction horizontal joints
  • Provides attractive architectural finish on pre-cast members, sidewalks, etc.

Shelf Life

1 year in original, unopened packaging.

Storage Conditions

Product will freeze at -2 °C (28° F). If frozen, thaw and stir before use.

Application steps

APPLICATION

Curing

 

Treated concrete must be wet-cured immediately. Cover with wet burlap or plastic sheet to prevent surface from drying out.

 

Clean Up

Concrete should be cleaned within 10 - 24 hours, depending on temperature; test surface. Remove retarded surface mortar with a stiff brush and water-flush with a hose. Resume curing process after mortar has been removed.
