Store protected, in dry conditions, at temperatures between 5 °C to 30 °C. Do not expose to direct sunlight and heat. Close the opened packaging well. If there is paint left over, the remaining amount should be transferred into smaller containers to keep the air content as low as possible. Protect from freezing. If the product has frozen, do not use.

SikaWall®-485 MP mineral paint is applied in 2 to 3 coats. Alone, or in addition to the other products from the SikaWall®-485 MP product range, depending on the substrates, the corrective measures to be applied, and the level of water repellency desired. Refer to the “Substrate Quality / Pre-treatment” section for the different product combinations.

The product will be dry to the touch within 1 to 3 hours. After application the surface must be protected from strong winds and sun until the product is dry (3-6 hours), it must also be protected from rain until the end of the cure which lasts between 12 at 36 hours depending on temperature and humidity. 

It is necessary to calculate a minimum of twelve (12) hours between each coat. Before the last application, it is necessary to allow a 12 to 36 hours. 

Approximately 112 m² to 130 m² (1205 ft² to 1400 ft²) per 15.14 L (4 US gal) per coat of SikaWall®-485 MP. 

When SikaWall®-485 MP is diluted with SikaWall®-485 MP DIlution at a ratio of 10% by volume, approximately 128 m² to 148 m²  (1375 ft² to 1595 ft²) per 15.14 L (4 US gal) per coat.

 
The consumption indicated is a reference value on a smooth surface. Exact values can only be determined by painting test areas on the structure to be coated using tools and techniques that will be used for the final application.

SikaWall®-485 MP paint can be applied by:

• Brush: Use a natural bristle or nylon / polyester 
• Roller: Use a 13 mm to 19 mm (½ in to ¾ in)  nap synthetic roller cover 
• Sprayer: Use an Airless Paint Sprayer

Mix SikaWall®-485 MP to ensure uniformity using a slow speed (300 - 450 rpm) drill fitted with a Jiffy-style paddle. Mix for about three (3) to five (5) minutes until a homogeneous mixture is obtained. 

If it is planned to use SikaWall®-485 MP Dilution as a diluent with SikaWall®-485 MP, mix each product separately using a drill firstly. Then add SikaWall®-485 MP Dilution to SikaWall®-485 MP and stir all materials together. Always have accurately measured materials. Do not exceed the recommended amounts.  The recommended percent dilution is an "added by volume" rather than a ratio, as a rule:

A ratio of 10 % is equivalent to: 

• 1.5 L (0.4 US gal) of SikaWall®-485 MP Dilution for 15.14 L (4 US gal) of SikaWall®-485 MP

The paint should be stirred regularly in its container before & during application to avoid segregation of constituents.

TWO LAYER SYSTEM

1st coat (basecoat): Product SikaWall®-485 MP at a maximum dilution of 10 % 1.5 L (0.4 US gal) / 15.14 L (4 US gal) with the product SikaWall®485 MP Dilution. Allow to dry 12 hours or overnight before recoating. 

2nd coat (topcoat): SikaWall®-485 MP without dilution. 

THREE-LAYER SYSTEM 

1st coat (basecoat): Products such as SikaWall®-485 MP Texture, SikaWall®-485 MP Primer or SikaWall®-485 MP Primer Plus can be diluted up to a maximum of 10 % [1.5 L (0.4 US gal) / 15.14 L (4 US gal)] with SikaWall®-485 MP Thinner. Allow to dry for 12 hours or overnight before applying a second coat.

2nd coat (intermediate coat): Product SikaWall®-485 MP at a maximum dilution of 10 % 1.5 L (0.4 US gal) / 15.14 L (4 US gal) with the product SikaWall®-485 MP Dilution.  Allow to dry 12 hours or overnight before recoating.

3rd coat (topcoat): Product SikaWall®-485 MP without dilution.  It is important to work wet-on-wet maintaining a wet edge. Work corner to corner or use an architectural feature as a starting and stopping point. 

For spray applications, contact spray equipment specialists to determine suitable equipment and for application advice. It is recommended to apply the basecoat with a paint brush or roller, to allow complete coverage on the surface. 

IMPORTANT NOTE: Always carry out an application test in an inconspicuous to verify substrate conditions and to  confirm application method, consumption rate, coverage and satisfactory finish. Best practice suggests that the selected area is acceptable to all parties involved and that it is representative of the area to be eventually painted. 

Clean all tools and application equipment with water immediately after use. Once dried/cured, material can only be removed mechanically.
