Store protected, in dry conditions, at temperatures between 5 °C to 30 °C. Do not expose to direct sunlight and heat. Close the opened packaging well. If there is paint left over, the remaining amount should be transferred into smaller containers to keep the air content as low as possible. Protect from freezing. If the product has frozen, do not use.

As part of the SikaWall®-485 MP mineral paint system, SikaWall®-485 MP Primer serves as a basecoat for priming and filling surface. SikaWall®-485 MP Primer can be mixed with SikaWall®-485 MP Dilution. SikaWall®-485 MP Primer cannot be used as a finish coat, it needs to be covered by two (2) coats of SikaWall®-485 MP.

The product will be dry to the touch within 1 to 3 hours. After application the surface must be protected from strong winds and sun until the product is dry (3-6 hours), it must also be protected from rain until the end of the cure which lasts between 12 at 36 hours depending on temperature and humidity. 

It is necessary to calculate a minimum of twelve (12) hours between each coat.

Approximately 44 m² to 60 m² (480 ft² to 640 ft²) per 15.14 L (4 US gal) per coat of SikaWall®-485 MP Primer. The consumption indicated is a reference value on a smooth surface. Exact values can only be determined by painting test areas on the structure to be coated using tools and techniques that will be used for the final application. Refer to the relevant Product Data Sheet (PDS) for each SikaWall®-485 products for more consumption references.

SikaWall®-485 MP Primer can be applied by: 

• Brush: Use a natural bristle or nylon / polyester 
• Roller: Use a 13 mm to 19 mm ( ½ in to ¾ in) nap synthetic roller cover 
• Sprayer: Use an Airless Paint Sprayer

For spray applications, contact spray equipment specialists to determine suitable equipment and for application advice. It is recommended to apply the basecoat with a brush or roller, to allow complete coverage on the surface.

Application by brush is best for crack filling as material can be worked into all surfaces well. For equalizing appearance application by roller is recommended. When application is made by spraying, we recommended to back rolling as work is progressing.

Mix SikaWall®-485 MP Primer to ensure uniformity using a slow speed (300 - 450 rpm) drill fitted with a Jiffy-style paddle. Mix for about three (3) to five (5) minutes until a homogeneous mixture is obtained. 

If it is planned to use SikaWall®-485 MP Dilution as a diluent with SikaWall®-485 MP Primer, mix each product separately using a drill firstly. Then add SikaWall®-485 MP Dilution to SikaWall®-485 MP Primer and stir all materials together. Always have accurately measured materials. Do not exceed the recommended amounts.  The recommended percent dilution is an "added by “volume” rather than a ratio:

A ratio of 10 % is equivalent to: 

• 1.5 L (0.4 US gal) of SikaWall®-485 MP Dilution for 15.14 L (4 US gal) of SikaWall®-485 MP Primer  

The paint should be stirred regularly in its container before & during application to avoid segregation of constituents.

It is important to work ‘’wet-on-wet’’, always maintaining a wet edge. Work corner to corner or use an architectural feature as a starting and stopping point.

IMPORTANT NOTE : Always carry out an application test in an inconspicuous to verify substrate conditions and to  confirm application method, consumption rate and coverage. Best practice suggests that the selected area is acceptable to all parties involved and that it is representative of the area to be eventually pre-treated with SikaWall®-485 MP Primer.

Clean all tools and application equipment with water immediately after use. Once dried/cured, material can only be removed mechanically.
