SikaWall®-485 MP Lime Remover is a Phosphoric acid based pre-treatment and cleaning agent which provides high efficiency in the removal of lime deposits when applied to a mineral substrate. It helps towards achieving proper surface preparation to optimize the chemical bond of Sikawall-485 paint or stain on the substrate. Ready to apply, for exterior and interior use.

Usage

SikaWall®-485 MP Lime Remover helps to removes lime deposit & cement laitance on mineral surfaces. Can be used as a cleaning agent on excessively soiled surfaces. Prepares surfaces to optimize the chemical adhesion of Sikawall-485 MP.

Approximately 50 m2 to 75 m2 (540 ft2 to 810 ft2) per 3.78 L (1 US gal) per application of SikaWall®-485 MP Lime Remover.

   

The consumption indicated is a reference value on a smooth surface. Exact values can only be determined on the specific substrate of the project.
Application steps

MIXING

Agitate SikaWall®-485 MP Lime Remover thoroughly to ensure uniformity (always verify that the bottle cap is securely closed before agitating). Potable water can be use as a diluent with SikaWall®-485 MP Lime Remover. Always have accurately measured materials. Do not exceed the recommended ratios. Mix potable water with SikaWall®-485 MP Lime Remover for about three (3) until a homogeneous mixture is obtained.

   

The recommended ratios are:

For exterior uses:
Dilute 1 L (0,3 US gal) of SikaWall®-485 MP Lime Remover with 3 L (0.8 US gal) Water

For interior uses:
Dilute 1 L (0.3 US gal) of SikaWall®-485 MP Lime Remover with 5 L (1,3 US gal) Water

   

The SikaWall®-485 MP Lime Remover should be stirred regularly in its container before & during application to avoid the segregation of constituents.

APPLICATION

Apply SikaWall®-485 MP Lime Remover with a brush from bottom to top. Allow the liquid to penetrate to ensure the full saturatation of the surface.

SikaWall®-485 MP Lime Remover will react instantly at the contact of the surface. The reaction will generate a slight white fizzing on the substrate.

The exterior surfaces treated with SikaWall®-485 MP Lime Remover needs to be rinsed with water. The interior surfaces treated with SikaWall®-485 MP Lime Remover don’t need to be washed afterwards.

Pure lime new surfaces and / or mortars develop resistance slowly by absorbing dioxide carbon. This slow process can cause new lime deposits to appear. In this context, a second application may be necessary. Wait a period of 4 weeks before the second application of SikaWall®-485 MP Lime Remover.

   

IMPORTANT NOTE : Always carry out an application test in an inconspicuous to verify substrate conditions and to  confirm application method, consumption, coverage, dwell time and if a subsequent application is necessary to help achieve desired results. Best practice suggests that the selected area is acceptable to all parties involved and that it is representative of the area to be eventually pretreated and cleaned.

CLEAN UP

Clean all tools and application equipment with water immediately after use.
