Project Description
An Intervention was necessary for the restoration of the masonry following the aging of the facades, exposure to extreme weather and inadequate previous repairs.
Work Done
Exterior of the Building
Challenges
- Large number of intervention
- Adaptation of the mortars; different colors and different sand grain sizes according to the location of the interventions as well as to fit with the elements to adapt to the different substrates encountered (restoration of granite stone, sandstone and laying of back-wall brick)
- Project stretching over a long period and requiring substantial seasonal adjustments (summer/winter)
- Rigorous control on site: mortar consistency tests by the masons at each batch with Vicat cone penetrometer + weekly controls carried out by external laboratory (Vicat cone penetrometer / compressive strength and vapour transmission)
Why were these products chosen?
Products can be adjusted to suit the need of this project. The dosage, the sand granulometry ( Regular VS C-Series) and the color could be adapted to the stone.
"Not only it is an imposing construction site with a lot of people, but also because of the location it was a very big challenge for the team to deal with the noise, the traffic and the people living in the area. " Stephane Rivet, testimonial from the project manager
