Sika® Level SkimCoat

Fast-setting, cement-based skimcoating compound

Sika® Level SkimCoat is a 1-component, easy to use and fast drying, cementitious skimcoating compound ideal for the repair or preparation of concrete, approved wood subfloors, and correctly prepared existing tiled floors before the installation of final floor coverings. Can be installed as a true featheredge as well as filling voids and minor leveling defects up to 13 mm (1/2 in) in depth.

  • Easy to mix and quick to apply
  • Provides for a smooth surface on new and properly prepared existing tiled floors
  • Good adhesion to substrates, approved underlayments, and stable cut back adhesive residues
  • Rapid setting; When applied as a skim coat, resilient flooring can be installed as soon as spreading the adhesive with a notched trowel does  not damage the surface (generally after 20 minutes)
  • Suitable for use with radiant heating systems
  • Excellent standard of finish can be achieved to allow direct application of coverings
  • Unlimited MVER (Moisture Vapor Emission Rate)

Usage

  • Use to pre-fill holes or non-active cracks in concrete and seams in wood substrates 
  • Use to smooth out rough surfaces and correct minor defects in concrete and approved wood underlayments prior to applying floor coverings

Storage Conditions

Store (unopened) in a dry place at temperatures between +5 °C and +32 °C (41 °F and 89 °F). For best results, condition product between +18 °C and +29 °C (65 °F and 84 °F) before use.

Application steps

APPLICATION

  • Using a flat edge steel trowel, apply Sika® Level SkimCoat immediately following mixing.
  • Ensure that the compound is tightly trowelled into all defects, seams, and non-active cracks or across roughened surfaces as required.
  • Where defects, details or roughened surfaces require repair or resurfacing to a depth greater than 13 mm (1/2 in), use the appropriate Sika® Levelling products.
